The Art of Rube Goldberg exhibition offers visitors an intimate look at the life and legacy of cartoonist Rube Goldberg, best known for his “invention cartoons,” depicting zany chain reaction machines. This STEAM-inspired curriculum guide explores the cartoons and invention drawings of Rube Goldberg, while providing opportunities to examine and build simple and compound machines. This guide is designed to be used with a tour of The Art of Rube Goldberg or as a stand-alone resource.

The Art of Rube Goldberg was conceived by Creighton Michael; developed in cooperation with Heirs of Rube Goldberg, LLC, New York, New York; and curated by Max Weintraub. The tour was organized by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. The Contemporary Jewish Museum San Francisco’s presentation is presented on occasion of The CJM’s Tenth Anniversary in its Daniel Libeskind-designed building.
