About the Resource

Discover exciting and engaging ways to share food and candlelighting traditions of Shabbat in the classroom! This guide is part of a series of resources for parents, caregivers, and teachers for sharing Jewish traditions, holidays, and culture with K–5 students.

The guide focuses on cultural celebrations of Shabbat. and includes pre-visit instructions, an explanation of Shabbat, classroom prep, parent introduction, supply list, a guided art project, Shabbat read-aloud (for grades K–2), music, snack, and closing.

About the Series

The CJM offers resources for parents, caregivers, and teachers who are interested in sharing Jewish culture in the classroom. This initiative empowers parents with additional tools and support to feel confident and prepared for age-appropriate Jewish cultural connections.
