Learn about the variety of jobs within the arts while hearing personal stories from professionals in the field talk about their unique paths from student to career. Through conversations and presentations teens can ask questions, find inspiration, and get advice from artists and arts administrators sharing their stumbles and successes.

Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo

Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo is an artist, arts educator, activist, storyteller and curator who lives and works in Oakland, California. Branfman-Verissimo has been included in exhibitions and performances at Lago Projects, Highways Performance Space, Deli Gallery, Southern Exposure, SFMOMA, Kala Art Institute, and the Berkeley Art Museum. She is the founder and lead curator at Nook Gallery, a gallery she started in her home.

Sam Vernon

Sam Vernon uses installation and performance to confront questions concerning personal narrative, historical memory and identity. She earned her MFA in Painting/Printmaking from Yale University in 2015 and her BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 2009. Vernon has most recently exhibited with We Buy Gold, Interstitial Gallery, Coney Art Walls curated by Jeffrey Deitch, Brooklyn Museum, Queens Museum, Fowler Museum at UCLA and Seattle Art Museum. Sam lives in Oakland, CA and teaches printmaking as Assistant Professor at California College of the Arts (CCA). 

Jovanna Venegas

Jovanna Venegas is a curator and researcher based in San Francisco. She is currently the Curatorial Assistant of Contemporary Art at SFMOMA. She received her BA in Art History from UCLA in 2010 and her MA in Curatorial Practice from the School of Visual Arts in 2017. From 2010–2015 she lived in Mexico City and worked on exhibitions at House of Gaga, Colección Cesar Cervantes, and Eduardo Terrazas Studio. She was curatorial assistant to Lucía Sanromán on the exhibitions: inSite: cuatro ensayos de lo público sobre otro escenario (La Tallera, MX); Citizen Cultura (Santa Monica Museum of Art, US); and SITElines: New Perspectives on Art of the Americas (Santa Fe, US). While in New York she worked on public programs and curatorial projects at e-flux, the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, Independent Curators International, and the 11th Gwangju Biennial.
