EVENTS COORDINATOR
Position Summary

Events Coordinators are integral to individual events at The Contemporary Jewish Museum (The CJM), serving as a primary onsite point-of-contact on a day-of-event basis to deliver successful event experiences for guests and clients. Responsibilities of the Events Coordinator include, but are not limited to, coordinating internal and external (vendor/client) logistics; assisting with event execution; communicating across security, janitorial, and front of house functions; and ensuring compliance with The CJM's policies.

The successful individual in this role will provide a high level of customer service and will enthusiastically promote The CJM as a cultural and community setting. Hourly Rate: $27

Essential Job responsibilities
  • Acts as principal contact on the day of the event for groups or individuals renting The CJM for special events
  • Provides onsite supervision and logistical execution of corporate, private, and internal events, acting as a liaison to rental clients
  • Ensures any pre- and post-event load-in and preparation is managed in a safe and timely manner, compliant with The CJM’s internal policies and procedures
  • Reviews and periodically checks floor plan set-ups, catering coordination, AV assistance and any other staffing requirements or production goals set forth by our clients
  • Oversight of third-party vendors and their compliance with The Museum’s electrical, insurance, license and permit requirements
  • Ensures client and vendor compliance with the specific contractual obligations including timely load-ins, event duration and any other special measure outlined and agreed to by The CJM and clients
  • Coordinates operations, audio–visual, and security services on the event day
  • Acts as liaison to Museum staff, ensuring visibility onsite at all time, responding in a timely manner to radio requests, and stationing oneself centrally before, during, and after events
Minimum qualifications

Education and experience

  • At least 1–2 years of event management experience and/or site management experience preferably at a cultural institution or active rentals venue
  • Experience working corporate and private events including meetings, cocktail parties, and sit-down dinners is a plus

Knowledge, SKIlls, and abilities

  • Detail-oriented and highly professional interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to problem-solve and work under pressure and time constraints
  • Proactive and positive attitude in working with others

other requirements

  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends depending on The CJM’s calendar of exhibitions openings, and special events
