Position Title:  Senior Marketing Manager                  

Department:  Marketing and Communications

Reports To:  Director of Marketing and Communications

Status:  Regular, Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

Since its founding in 1984, The Contemporary Jewish Museum (The CJM) has distinguished itself as a welcoming place where visitors can connect with one another through dialogue and shared experiences with the arts. Ever changing, The CJM is a non–collecting institution that partners with national and international cultural institutions to present exhibitions that are both timely and relevant and represent the highest level of artistic achievement and scholarship.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications (DMC), the Senior Marketing Manager is a key contributor to overall marketing, communications, and content strategy. This role is responsible for the implementation and tracking of digital, traditional, and email marketing campaigns, overseeing social media strategy and execution, and building awareness for The Contemporary Jewish Museum’s exhibitions and programming through robust content production and distribution across digital platforms.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Work with cross–departmental stakeholders to strategize and implement comprehensive marketing plans for The CJM’s exhibitions and programming
  • Collaborate with DMC and Creative Services team to plan, design, and produce digital and print marketing materials, managing cross–departmental content calendars and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Ensure that cross–functional content, marketing, and promotional strategies are established for email, print, and social media campaigns
  • Oversee web production, including content strategy and production, feature set development, analytics, and platform evaluation
  • Manage and track analytics across digital platforms and implement data–driven decisions to improve and evolve The CJM’s marketing, communications, and digital strategies
  • Coordinate vendor relations and special project management, including planning, scheduling, and documentation
  • Be a key internal and external stakeholder contact, clarifying strategic requirements, clearly translating complex ideas into concrete solutions and managing diverse organizational expectations
  • Write and edit engaging copy for an array of organizational collateral for both print and digital communications
  • Collaborate with internal and external contributors to create digital content, including writing or assigning and editing blog content
  • Monitor and provide guidance on the proper usage of the Museum’s Style Guide and updates annually
  • Design and implement new workflows for multi–departmental procedures across the museum
  • Manage support staff with the opportunity to grow the team
  • Represent the Museum at community events when needed
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • BA degree in art history, digital media, communications, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing and/or public relations; museum, cultural organization, or non–profit experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the visual arts highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience managing the development of digital products and experiences, as well as social media tools and platforms
  • Supervisory experience
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of The CJM

Skills and Abilities

  • Superb organizational skills with strong understanding of project management best practices and software, Asana preferable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate and interact with staff from a variety of departments, as well as outside vendors and contractors, with diplomacy and tact
  • Demonstrated success with industry–standard image production and graphics tools
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and launch dates
  • Self–motivated and able to set priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a dynamic team
  • Ability to work comfortably on both Mac and PC platforms, including proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems and content management systems
