The Marketing and Digital Communications Associate reports to the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications and plays a key role in developing new audiences and content, with an emphasis on digital marketing, digital content, and metrics reporting. The Marketing and Digital Communications Associate assists in implementation of exhibition and program-related marketing campaigns for The CJM’s online and offline audiences.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Works with the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications and Digital Content Producer to create and develop social and digital strategy
  • Executes The Museum’s social media strategy and content across multiple platforms
  • Copyedits, routes, and distributes marketing materials and PR communications for upcoming exhibitions and programs, including: program guides, press releases, calendar listings, PSAs, eNews, and promotional collateral
  • Project manages creation of The Museum’s monthly eNews
  • Manages digital paid campaigns on Google Ad Words
  • Researches content related to exhibitions and Jewish history for social media campaigns, blog, and website; solicits contributors and edits content for Museum blog
  • Researches and evaluates digital strategies, publications, and output from other organizations as background for The CJM’s content development
  • Supports the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications in coordinating logistics for press previews, VIP tours, film crew visits, and other press events
  • Responds to publicity alerts and general inquiries, and other press or advertising-related requests
  • Manages media tracking and generates monthly reports and weekly press highlights newsletters
  • Maintains marketing outreach database; and photo, video and press archives. Handles the collection and organization of CJM media coverage
  • Creates and analyzes reports for web and digital efforts. Participates in creating effective measurements and milestones for engagement and conversion.
  • Initiates and builds promotional partnerships with other Bay Area institutions, such as museums, program partners, community, and Jewish cultural organizations
  • Works with Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to plan and prepare for Board meetings and committee meetings
  • Coordinates volunteers for marketing and public relations events
  • Represents the Marketing department at occasional community events and press conferences
  • Other duties as assigned 
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA or BS degree in Marketing, English, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years in marketing/communications position, with strong experience in social media
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and basic applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Google docs, and database software). Experience with Photoshop, Adobe creative suite, and understanding of basic graphic design.
  • Non-profit arts experience highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including copy writing and editing. Adept at creative and playful language.
  • Project management skills and detail oriented
  • Professional experience of monitoring digital marketing trends and techniques
  • Ability to gather, interpret, and report social media data
  • Clear understanding of basic graphic design
  • Experience working with institutional style guides and design guides
  • Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours during peak periods and occasional weekends.
  • Knowledge of the visual arts and Jewish culture preferred
  • Interest in and commitment to the mission of The Contemporary Jewish Museum
