Circle of Friends

The Circle of Friends is the Contemporary Jewish Museum’s (CJM) premier giving society comprised of a dedicated group of friends who make annual gifts of $1,000 and more. Participation in the Circle of Friends provides the Museum with critical funds to curate original exhibitions, host traveling exhibitions, and collaborate with museums from around the world. Through your support, the Museum presents outstanding works of art and a diverse schedule of educational programs that explore contemporary perspectives on Jewish culture, history, art, and ideas.

chai *Chai (pronounced [ħai]) is a symbol and word that figures prominently in Jewish culture and consists of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet Het and Yod. In the Hebrew language, the word chai means "living" and is related to the term for "life" chaim. In Judaism, Hebrew letters are sometimes correlated with numbers that bear mystical associations. The letters of chai add up to 18. For this reason 18 is a lucky number in Judaism, and many Jewish people give gifts of money in multiples of 18.
