About the Program

Music, comedy, melodrama—what’s not to love at this afternoon extravaganza drawn from the tradition of Yiddish radio? Afternoon includes pulled-from-the-vault broadcast scripts not heard in over sixty years, classic klezmer, original skits, and commercial jingles by Anthony Russell and Jeanette Lewicki, with musicians Sheldon Brown (clarinet), Rob Reich (accordion), Richard Saunders (bass), and Aaron Kierbel (sound effects and more). . Hosted by Harvey Varga (100 Yiddish Words the Average Puerto Rican New Yorker Knows). Plus participate in a San Francisco-style Bintel Brief with comedians Nato Green and Guy Branum.  Come early and grab lunch at Wise Sons Deli.

Created in conjunction with KlezCalifornia and co-presented by The Jewish Daily Forward.
