Why have membership rates changed?

Thanks to Member support, the CJM has emerged as one of the Bay Area’s most vibrant cultural institutions. In the five years since our opening, we have not raised our membership rates even as the costs involved in sustaining our programs (such as postage, operating costs, and more) continue to rise significantly each year.

We are committed to making your experience as a CJM Member the best it can be. Our price adjustments will allow the Museum to continue to offer valuable and unique benefits while also providing crucial support of CJM exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach.


Are membership benefits changing?

More benefits, more value. The CJM is invested in making your Member experience an exceptional value. Members continue to receive all of the high-quality benefits they currently enjoy, and we are committed to developing new opportunities to provide you with even more VIP access to artists, scholars, educators, and community. Some of the brand-new privileges we offer: Private Member Daytime Viewing Hours, Supporter Member Curator Gallery Talks, and the unique benefits associated with our new Family membership.

When was the last time CJM membership rates changed?

Our new rates went into effect April 1, 2013.  Prior to that, the Museum had not raised its rates in more than five years, prior to the Museum’s grand opening in its beautiful new Daniel Libeskind-designed building in 2008.


 Can I renew my membership at my current rate?

Yes! All current Members will have the opportunity to renew at their current, lower rate when their membership is due to renew this year.


 Can I renew for two years and lock in my current rate?

Yes!  Renew today and save! All current Members will have the opportunity to renew and lock in their current, lower rate – for one or two years – when their membership is due this year. We will send you a reminder notice in advance of your membership expiration.  Please note, 2-year renewals can be processed by phone 415.655.7824 or onsite (option not available online).


 Can I renew my membership in a different category?

Yes, if you would like to renew or even upgrade for more exclusive benefits, you may select any category at the previous rate.


 If I renew my membership early, what will my new expiration date be?

Your membership will be extended one year beyond your current expiration date (or two years if you opt for a 2-year renewal payment to lock in your current rate, and save even more).

What if my membership is currently on Auto Renewal Payment?

As you requested, when you signed up for Auto Renewal, your membership will continue to be billed on an annual basis, at the membership rate that is current for the category of your choice, when your membership expires.  To change your Auto Renewal Payment status, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. How can I sign up for Auto Renewal Payment?

Simply log in to your online membership account and select the Auto Renewal box with your billing information.
