ARTpack

Looking for a fun, family-friendly way to introduce Museum art and culture to your children? Come to the Contemporary Jewish Museum and check out an ARTpack. Filled with age-appropriate activities, ARTpacks are designed to help families explore the Museum and its exhibitions together. Check out an ARTpack at the admission desk anytime you visit. Free with admission.

Each ARTpack is filled with guided activities for you and your kids to learn about the architecture and art on view. There are several ARTpacks from which to choose, so there’s always something new to do-- every time you visit:

  • Be an Architect! With this ARTpack, your children can design a building, following in the footsteps of the CJM’s architect: Daniel Liebskind! Learn how to incorporate symbolic elements into a building design, use architectural drafting tools, and investigate the different textures of a variety of building materials. For ages 5-10.
  • Pass It On! Inspired by Storycorps—a national oral history program —your family can learn all about the exhibitions by using storytelling as a tool. Explore the exhibitions while sharing family tales and memories, through writing, drawing, and role playing activities. Spend time together and document an interview of a family member, create a colorful paper “story” quilt, and share your love of music by designing a cd cover. For ages 5-10.
  • SketchPack This ArtPack is filled with a variety of graphite pencils and papers, with sketching and drawing technique instructions. Wander in and around the galleries and have fun responding to the art and architecture as you create a mini-portfolio of your artwork. For ages 5-adult.
